Hypoxic Preconditioning Eliminates Differences in the Innate Resistance of Rats to Severe Hypoxia

چکیده
Hypoxic preconditioning is able to increase the body’s resistance to hypoxic/ischemic stress. Understanding how to apply the hypoxic response to initiate the protective mechanism of ischemic preconditioning is a high priority. However, the relationship between innate resistance to hypoxic stress and preconditioning efficiency of moderate hypoxia has been poorly studied. In our work, the efficiency of single moderate hypobaric hypoxia (HBH) for resistance to severe hypobaric hypoxia (SHBH) was studied on intact rats and those pre-tested under SHBH with low, intermediate and high resistance to hypoxia. HBH has a significant preconditioning action on the resistance to hypoxia over a wide range from 270 to 1464 s (4.5 to 24.5 min) and at the same time eliminates the differences in the endurance under SHBH between all rat groups. It is concluded that 1) HBH preconditioning efficiency does not depend on an innate resistance to SHBH and prior hypoxic experience of rats; and 2) the pretesting to severe hypoxia has no value for predicting the hypoxic preconditioning efficiency and study of adaptive mechanisms.

Variety of Neuronal Pathways to Achieve the Same Hypoxic Preconditioning Effect
The relevance of hypoxic preconditioning is due to its ability to increase the body's resistance to hypoxic/ischemic stress. A single session of moderate hypoxia eliminates the differences in endurance under severe hypoxia in intact rats and those pre-tested under severe hypoxia with high and low innate resistance to it. In these rat groups, the same preconditioning effect is achieved by differ...
متن کاملEffect of High intensity interval training and hypobaric hypoxia on Body weight changes and Endurance performance in Male wistar rats following the tapering program
Introduction: Adaptation to attitude is a complementary exercise to increase athletes' fitness and physiological performance. The present study investigated the effect of high intensity interval training at the hypobaric hypoxia conditions on weight changes and endurance performance test in rats following a three-weeks tapering period. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, 25 m...

Objective(s): Stroke may cause severe neuronal damage. The sesamin have been demonstrated to possess neuroprotection by its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. One sesamin derivative was artificially composited, 1, 2-bis [(3-methoxyphenyl) methyl] ethane-1, 2-dicaroxylic acid (MMEDA) had been developed to study its antioxidative activity and neuroprotection. Materials and Methods: The...
متن کاملHypoxia tolerance and preconditioning are not additive in the trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) heart.
Research has shown that the trout heart is normally hypoxia-sensitive, and that it can be preconditioned. However, we have identified a group of rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss that shows a surprising degree of myocardial hypoxia tolerance. In this study, we used in situ hearts from these fish as a comparative model to examine whether the cardioprotective effects afforded by hypoxic adaptatio...
متن کاملQuantitative evaluation of hemodynamic parameters during acute alveolar hypoxia and hypercapnia in the isolated ventilated-perfused rabbit lung
Introduction: Acute respiratory disorders such as obstructive pulmonary diseases and hypoventilation may lead to alveolar hypoxia and hypercapnia which their effects on pulmonary vascular beds are controversial. The aim of this study was to establish the isolated perfused lung setup and investigate the effects of alveolar hypoxia and hypercapnia on pulmonary vascular resistance. Methods: White ...
